Ross Medical University is a short 7-minute walk from Kootney Resort, along the Picard River and up the main roadway.  As you near the school, you will inevitably pass the outdoor Food Court, better known to the students as "The Shacks".  These vendors supply an array of both fresh Dominica produce and prepared foods for a variety of ethnic tastes.   Several vendors offer freshly squeezed fruit juices, and one health food shop has possibly the best tasting yogurt anywhere.  Across the roadway from the campus you will also find more kiosks, small restaurants, a wine bar, grocery store, hair salons and a Laundromat.

I f you have children and are concerned about their education...you're in luck.  Ross University has a day school on campus; the Ross Preparatory School is a traditional, independent day school for children of faculty and enrolled students  from pre-kindergarten through Grade 8.  The staff is also able to assist high school aged children in their home school studies if required.

The Prepatory School has incorporated an independent school curriculum, which is comparable to quality courses found in private schools in North America.  The School prides itself on its curriculum, its small classes and the quality of its teachers. 

The Prepatory School also operates a Day Care Center for infants through three years of age to assist families with young children.
